A Legendary Weekend Adventure backpacking Yosemite Valley’s North Rim and exploring Mirror Lake, Snow Creek trail, Indian Rock, and Upper Falls. Mileage here won’t be the challenge – the elevation gain, and the Switchbacks to the Sky is what make this trip an adventure. But don't fret, you'll be getting some of the best views of Half Dome with the best seats in the house and you’ll be rewarded with views all along this loop.
Enjoy the views, spectacular lookout points, stand on the edge of gnarly drops, get your heart racing, set up camp creekside, indulge in secluded swimming holes, and have a night out on the town with our delicious backcountry meals.
We'll be camping near Yosemite's Arch Rock Entrance for quick access to Yosemite Valley. At basecamp, the fun continues with delicious meals, camp games, and late-night stories talking backpacking, hiking, gear, and favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors.

Switchbacks to the Sky
5.6 Miles | 2,713' Elevation Gain
We'll meet after breakfast in Yosemite Valley at Curry Village at 9 AM. We'll head up Mirror Lake trail to Snow Creek trail and leave the Valley behind. It will be a short mileage day but lots of elevation gain with some spectacular scenery with lunch on the trail. We'll settle into our first campsite with incredible views of Half Dome and Mt. Watkins. Once we've settled in at camp, we'll explore, rest, enjoy delicious backcountry dinner and drinks.
6.6 Miles | 1,584' Elevation Gain
The adventure continues along the North Rim and enjoying the backcountry along with majestic scenery, swimming holes, and incredible views from the world-famous Upper Falls. Stand on the edge of the tallest waterfall in North America! We'll settle into camp along Yosemite Creek, take a dip and enjoy some refreshing water before another delicious dinner.

5.6 Miles | Downhill
We leave our campsite at Upper Falls and head to the Valley. We'll get some great views of the Falls and the Valley, stopping at Columbia Rock for one of Yosemite's most iconic viewpoints. We'll be back at our cars before lunch. Stick around and we'll float the Merced River and enjoy the Valley from a different perspective!

You will need to bring all the necessary clothes and backpacking gear for the trip (pack, sleeping bag, tent, bowl/plate, utensils, water bottle or bladder, etc.) – an exact packing list will be provided upon registration. Backpacking equipment is available for rent for additional fees per item.

Upper Falls wilderness backpacking permits are included with this trip. Permits have been confirmed and this is a guaranteed trip. When you book your trip you'll receive confirmation and will have a guaranteed spot for the weekend. Our calendars are set but if for some unforeseen reason we do not have the minimum Crew needed to run the trip we will notify you and ask you to invite your mom, boss, or neighbor. If we find that we don't have the minimum numbers needed, don't fret, we'll simply give you the option to reschedule, join another Legendary Adventure, or give you your money back – no questions asked.
We meet every guest in Yosemite National Park. If you’re booking flight reservations or need additional assistance with transportation, let us know ahead of time. Packing lists, directions, and gear recommendations will be sent out once you’ve booked your trip.
